Journeys in cooperation with local shepherds

The idea of creating small-scale, locally rooted travel experiences grew out of the relationships I formed while working as a photographer in rural and remote communities. What began as documentary projects slowly turned into lasting friendships, and from those friendships, a shared idea emerged: to invite others into the rhythm of shepherd life.

These journeys are built on trust and genuine collaboration with the families who welcomed me into their world. Together, we offer intimate experiences that are not about sightseeing, but about spending meaningful time outdoors, walking with herds, sharing simple meals, listening to stories, and reconnecting with nature through the everyday life of the communities who know it best.

Through these journeys, you are invited to step into the landscapes, cultures, and lives behind my photographs and to experience a part of this shepherd life for yourself, guided and organized by the local people and communities at its heart.

Albania & Kyrgyzstan

The Golden Goat

In Albania, The Golden Goat offers a warm and welcoming guesthouse stay among a lively herd of goats and the mountain landscapes they call home. For more adventurous animal lovers, a multi-day goat trek leads deep into the heart of the Korab Mountains. This is a hands-on experience for those curious to test their own shepherd skills — walking, guiding, and caring for the herd while moving slowly through high alpine terrain.

The Dusty Shepherd

In Kyrgyzstan, The Dusty Shepherd takes you on an epic horse trek through vast mountain landscapes, following the rhythm of semi-nomadic shepherd life. Over thirteen days, you travel on horseback across high pastures and remote valleys, embracing a lifestyle shaped by weather, animals, and the open land. Expect wild camping, rugged mountains, basic comforts, unpredictable conditions, and the rewarding challenge of working closely with horses in their natural environment.
